Who we are, what we publish and the standards behind every story on abroadxo.
abroadxo is an independent digital magazine for readers who want to understand the world without shouting. We publish world news, technology, business, automotive, shopping, science, lifestyle and sports coverage — a deliberately broad brief, because interesting stories refuse to stay in their sections.
The site was founded in 2024 by a small group of journalists and editors who had spent years inside newsrooms that measured success in outrage. We wanted to build something different: a publication that treats your attention as a privilege, not a resource to be strip-mined.
What we publish
Our coverage falls into three shapes. Reported features follow a policy, an industry or a piece of research over time. Explainers take a complicated system — battery chemistry, shipping alliances, credit scoring — and make it legible. Practical guides answer questions you actually have: when to buy electronics, how warranties work, whether the four-day week is real.
We do not publish churnalism, listicles padded to a word count, or articles written to chase a search term. Every page on this site exists because an editor believed a reader would be glad it exists.
Independence and funding
abroadxo is funded by advertising served through Google Ad Manager and Google AdSense, and may earn commissions from certain retail links in our shopping coverage. Advertising and commerce never influence editorial judgment: no advertiser sees a story before publication, and our commercial and editorial teams are separate. Shopping guides are chosen by our writers, not by partners.
Where a page earns commission from links, we say so on the page. Where we review a product we bought ourselves, we say that too.
The newsroom
Our writers are based across Europe and North America — London, San Francisco, New York, Detroit, Barcelona and Toronto — and each of them has a public author page with a biography and contact address.
